A number of black employees who previously worked at a Manhattan TGI Friday’s are suing the chain, alleging that when the busy outpost closed, managers hired an all-new, light-skinned staff to take their place.
According to the lawsuit, filed Thursday in the Bronx Supreme Court, only one of the former black staff members was rehired when the restaurant moved to the new location just a block away. The suit also alleges that when confronted by former employees about the change, a restaurant manager told one of them that he “preferred Hispanic staffers because they work harder.”
In fact, managers would refer to the old location as “the black Friday’s” or the “ghetto store,” the suit says.
From the NY Daily News:
“It was their opinion that black people were lazy,” charged plaintiff Lisa Baker, 48, a waitress who says her old manager told her that her job serving…

Two parents who immigrated from Nigeria gave birth to a seemingly white baby at a London hospital recently – blond hair, blue eyes, and all.

He quickly sought to dispel any speculation.
“Of course she is mine. My wife is true to me,” the 44-year-old customer service adviser said. “Even if she hadn’t been, the baby still wouldn’t look like that.”

On its way past 11 million viewers, Fox’s Empire hasn’t exactly shirked controversy. So far, viewers have seen an openly homosexual lead character come to grips with his father’s homophobia, a business at least in part funded by illegal drug money, some adultery, and a gangland-style execution all intertwined in various plot lines. On the heels of show co-creator and co-producer Danny Strong admitting Terrence Howard’s character was inspired by Jay Z, Howard wants the show to push the envelope in one more fairly significant way.
“Why is TV showing something different from the reality of the world?” Howard offered in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly. “Why is there a thing called censorship that stop people from hearing everyday talk?
